The Music of Nearstars

Nearstars is a new and independent electronic music project.

The creation and development of myself - Ben J Ranson, Nearstars sets out to bring the obscure world of electronic music ("electronica") to the world of ordinary people.

Nearstars combines the classical influences of Vangelis, with the 1970's "Berlin-school" electronica of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulz and their more modern British re-interpreters Red Shift and Ian Boddy. Add to these my own unique style of texture, harmony and melody, and you have the music of Nearstars.

New CD Release! "Minds Over Matter"

December 2003 sees the release of the second CD by Nearstars - Minds Over Matter.

This 70 minute CD features 5 tracks and explores through music the nature of our reality. A much richer composition than the first Nearstars CD Alpha, on Minds Over Matter I made use of the new version of the Reason Virtual Studio, featuring enhanced orchestral samples, digital graintable synthesizers, and even a vocoder!
