About Me
Just who the heck am I anyway? Well, like all things, lets start at the
beginning...
Born on the 20th of September 1970 in the village of Canewdon, Essex, England,
I lived there until the age of 4, before the family and I all moved
out on a convict ship to Melbourne, Australia. We again moved to sunny
Adelaide, South Australia in 1976, before returning to England in 1980 -
specifically, Huddersfield, in Yorkshire. "It's Grim Up North!"
There I lived and was schooled (at
Queen Elizabeth Grammar and
Huddersfield New College) before debunking to the
University of Bristol
, in south-west England in 1989. There I chose to study Aeronautical
Engineering, "cos I liked planes". I gained my honours degree in 1992.
After graduation I went to work for an hydraulic analysis engineering company
in Leeds, Yorkshire, before moving to London in 1994 to work for yet another
engineering consultancy. In 1997, fed up of being an underpaid engineer, I
taught myself Windows programming for the PC, and by the following year
was gainfully employed as a software developer
. I became an independent contractor in 2000, during the dot.com boom, but when
the "bust" hit in 2002, I found I had plenty of time to think about my life
direction.
It was in that year that I decided finally to fulfil my desire to live and work
in the USA, and I moved to Florida in September 2002, settling in
California by the end of the year.
I currently live in the historic and artsy City
of
Pasadena just north-west of Los
Angeles.
I now own a successful computer manufacturing and retail business. While not working I enjoy writing fiction,
producing electronic music, astronomy,
history, cycling, swimming, travel, movies, comedy and serial dating.
